I wrote my column this week about how my fellow Metro-North commuters typically reveal a great deal about what news stories, and what specific details of those news stories, bubble to the surface each morning.

I could easily have written another column about how train chatter reveals people's radio- listening habits. But instead of news content being regurgitated, it's the ads that are repeated. One in particular, for AccountTemps ( "Call Bob!" ) is so insidious and memorable (and o.k., somewhat humorous) that I've heard my fellow commuters reciting the dialogue to each other.

Now we all know the 30-second spot is under threat, but nothing penetrates like those morning radio commercials. My own personal tormentor is Office Depot. That commercial is played twice during my highly efficient morning routine and I find myself thinking, "I really need envelopes" on the way to work...I wonder why...
