Attorneys general from 30 US states and areas are asking federal regulators to look into whether alcoholic-energy beverage producers such as Anheuser-Busch failed to warn consumers about the risks of mixing caffeine with alcohol, Bloomberg.com reports.
In a letter written to the US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau this week the attorneys general said the drinks also may contain too much alcohol to be sold as malt beverages.
In the letter, the attorneys general called out ads by Anheuser- Busch, SABMiller Plc and Charge Beverage Corp. that could possibly be viewed as misleading.
