There's no "PR Play of the Week" section in the upcoming issue of the magazine because this week's layout, so I just wanted to point out very briefly your weekly dose of stupidity: The City of Atlanta is considering outlawing baggy pants.

City Councilman C.T. Martin, who is sponsoring the proposal, explained that he is trying to help the youth, who frequently turn to City Council members in search of fashion advice.
"I don't want young people thinking that half-dressing is the way to go. I want them to think about their future."

And to combat charges that such a law would lead to increased racial profiling, Martin reassured us:
"Some will say I'm just trying to put young black men in jail, but it's going to be fines."

All hail the New South! A useful rule of thumb for city councils across the nation is that, if a bill your municipality has proposed ends up as a story on the front page of Yahoo! News, which has it tagged for the "Odd" section, you should rethink your proposed bill.

Now pull your pants up.
