MTV is launching "The Paper," a show featuring high school newspaper student editors. Eight episodes will come out in early 2008. The Hollywood Reporter states that MTV News and Documents EVP Dave Sirulnick will executive produce along with Marshall Eisen, Lindsey Bannister, Jessica Chesler, and Sam Simmons.

The setting is Cypress Bay High School in Weston, FL and will focus on the behind-the-scenes news editing action at the Circuit (the school paper). While the show is eager to highlight students who are making early moves in their journalism careers, being that this is an MTV produced series, we can expect more than just happy-going high school students gathering around the newsroom smiling at the camera.
"MTV has always been about reflecting the lives and interests of our audience, and 'The Paper' is a perfect example," Sirulnick said. "The compelling and fiercely competitive personalities of these student journalists prove that the news doesn't stop -- even in high school."

Let's just hope this doesn't turn into another Real World show where explosive verbal interaction and cat fights are regularly viewed.
