Lee fills top Northwest comms role

EAGAN, MN: Tammy Lee has been appointed to the VP of corporate communications position at Northwest Airlines. Lee will join the airline on October 8. Previously, she was VP at Bernstein Global Management and, prior to that, managing director of corporate affairs for US Airways. Lee assumes the position from Richard Hirst, who has held the post on an interim basis since July. He will now be SVP of corporate affairs and administration. Northwest experienced a tough summer with canceled flights resulting from staff shortages caused by Chapter 11 cuts. The company emerged from bankruptcy in May and hiring (along with more international routes) are part of its growth plans.
