Burson’s Tappan jumps to Weber Merritt

WASHINGTON: Robert Tappan, former president of Burson-Marsteller’s DC office, has been named president of Weber Merritt Public Affairs’ public affairs operation, a new position. Tappan will lead the firm’s new business and marketing activities as well as provide clients with strategic counsel. Tappan is a recent former principal deputy assistant secretary of state for public affairs at the State Department. Burson said in a statement that it “expects to name a new DC market leader in the near future.”
