Speculation is rife this morning that Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons' departure may be imminent. The London Times says that the transfer of power to “longtime #2” Jeffrey Bewkes could come as early as next week. The FT speculates that Bewkes may break up the company, as has long been called for by various large investors.
Spotlight: Rupert Murdoch
In the New York Times, David Carr says that Silicon Valley entrepreneurs are strangely fond of media monster-man Rupert Murdoch because of “what he has done with MySpace.” Future Murdoch biographer Michael Wolff tells the UK's Guardian that Murdoch will crush those in his path. And the gossip press slobbers all over the fearsome lineup at the launch party of Murdoch's Fox Business Network last week. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
