CAMBRIDGE, MA: Car sharing service Zipcar has named CooperKatz its new corporate AOR, PRWeek has learned.

Kristina Kennedy, corporate communications manager, said the agency will handle corporate PR, media relations, continue to develop CEO Scott Griffith's speaking programs, and execute its awards program. The agency will also do some regional programming in New York, Boston, Washington, DC, and San Francisco. Zipcar also works with Grisko & Associates in Chicago, NK PR in Toronto, Grey Worldwide in Vancouver, and Kaizo in London.

Zipcar offers 3,500 self service on-demand cars by the hour or day. It has 120,000 members in the US, Canada and London.

CooperKatz beat out two large-sized agencies for the account. RF Binder was Zipcar's corporate AOR for the last three-and-a-half years but was not one of the six agencies asked to take part in the review process.

Kennedy said the company was pleased with RF Binder's work. “As of late they have done a great job with our media relations,” Kennedy added, but said Zipcar had been thinking about reviewing the account for the past three to six months and was looking for the right time to bring in a “fresh agency.”

Nancy Moss, head of RF Binder's Boston office where the account was led, said the two parted ways mutually.
