FEMA PR chief’s new job on hold

WASHINGTON: John P. Philbin, the FEMA director of external affairs who oversaw a press conference in which FEMA staffers asked all the questions, may not be named the new director of public affairs for the US director of national intelligence as originally expected, the Associated Press reports. FEMA on October 23 gave media just 15 minutes' notice of a televised press conference in Washington on the wildfires in California, and with no media members present and none allowed to ask questions over the phone. FEMA staff pretended to be reporters and asked non-critical questions of the deputy administrator.
