DALLAS: Match.com has hired Manning Selvage & Lee as its AOR, consolidating PR for its two online dating sites. The agency was awarded the six-figure account following a competitive bid, said Allison Clark, senior PR manager at Match.com.
The company opted to consolidate functions for both Match.com and Chemistry.com to allow more flexibility between the communications teams, Clark said.
MS&L will handle consumer media and influencer outreach, public affairs counsel, and new product launches for the IAC-owned brands.
Edelman and Text 100 were also shortlisted. The incumbent firms, Mullen PR for Match.com and Weber Shandwick for Chemistry.com, also pitched for the account, said a source close to the process.
MS&L will work to "get messages out to help break down personal stigmas that singles may still have about online dating," Clark noted.
Amanda Glasgow, SVP, deputy director of the New York consumer practice at MS&L, said the firm's goals include building brand awareness for Chemistry.com and expanding Match.com into the new-media space.
This month, Match.com is slated to launch a social networking product and a Facebook application.
