WASHINGTON: The BIO IT Coalition, a Washington-based nonprofit serving the bridge between the life sciences and information technology industries, has chose Waggener Edstrom to provide PR support to the organization.
Initial support will focus on overall messaging for the coalition, hoping to raise the profile of the organization and build awareness, according to Torod Neptune, SVP of the public affairs practice at WE.
“We're trying to leverage the great work that we're doing today across the healthcare and public affairs practices to benefit the actual companies that are members of the coalition who operate at that same nexus,” Neptune said.
Work will begin with the group's seventh annual conference, “The State of Healthcare & Medical Technology in 2028,” according to Neptune. The conference is the organization's marquee event for the year, and will be held at the Carnegie Institute on April 23, 2008.
Neptune said the contract was gained through relationships; there was not a competitive review. He said the agency's record within the healthcare and public affairs sector provided a very good background for the task at hand.
