LOS ANGELES: Kanye West launched a travel Web site (http://kanyetravel.com/), in a partnership with Travelocity, specifically designed to give the rapper's fan base a glimpse into West's travel style. Kanye Travel Ventures (KTV) draws in fans through a link on the rapper's site and offers last minute deals and vacation packages to popular destinations.
The partnership was in development for a year, said Neil Abrams, the founder and principal of Abrams Consulting Group, a travel consulting and research company that handled the launch of the site and will carry out PR for the new venture.
"We've already gotten thousands and thousands of hits [on the new Web site], and there has already been tremendous media interest," Abrams told PRWeek.
The next step for the West-Travelocity venture is to bring in marketing partners and major brands to promote KTV, Abrams said.
Kanye Travel Ventures expects to eventually include tickets for West's concerts in the travel packages. It will also add more of West's favorite restaurants and clubs to the site.
Abrams said the company wants to expand the KTV model to other celebrities with a clearly definable brand.
