A new survey from global PR firm Edelman found that entertainment industry is the third-least trusted sector globally, with only 35% of respondents trusting the industry to do what is right. The Trust In Entertainment survey also reported that distrust can lead to consumers not buying products (57% of respondents), spreading negative word of mouth (51%) or refusing to invest (49%).

What can the industry do to improve the way the public sees it? One idea mentioned in the survey was to reduce the costs of content available for download online, leading to fewer illegal downloads.
