USCAP is a group of corporations and environmental groups supporting government-mandated reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
Work on behalf of USCAP will include message development; earned media outreach, including media targeting particular Congressional districts; and possibly some ads, though that remains to be determined. Widmeyer will also help promote the issue of carbon credits – also known as “cap and trade” emission – during the presidential campaign.
USCAP members include Alcoa, DuPont, GE, ConocoPhillips, Dow Chemical, PepsiCo, Shell, Environmental Defense, and the World Resources Institute (WRI).
“We're pleased Widmeyer has been engaged to help [USCAP] advance its nonpartisan call for action for national policy on cap-and-trade legislation on carbon emissions,” WRI VP of external relations Robin Murphy said via e-mail.
