WASHINGTON: Italian defense contractor Finmeccanica hired Qorvis for PR and IR related to its May 13 agreement to acquire Parsippany, NJ-based DRS Technologies for $5.2 billion.
The conglomerate hired Qorvis on an account basis in late April for media outreach, targeting general interest publications and financial and trade titles, as well as policy-maker outreach, according to Matt Lauer, Qorvis MD.
Qorvis is emphasizing to media and policymakers that Finmeccanica has years of experience as a defense contractor working with the US government, he added.
Partners Michael Petruzzello and Don Goldberg are leading the agency's work on the account, Lauer said. The budget is undisclosed.
A Finmeccanica rep referred all calls for comment to Qorvis.
Finmeccanica, which manufactures helicopters, aircrafts, missiles, and other defense equipment, paid $81 a share to acquire DRS, a maker of radar and surveillance equipment. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
DRS hired the Brunswick Group for acquisition PR, according to a source at the agency.
