With only five colleges previously offering women's wrestling teams, starting a new one, like three schools will do this fall, is one way to get noticed, the New York Times reported.

"When we can get so many girls to come here for a first-year program, that's 20 to 25 extra students who normally wouldn't have looked at Jamestown College," said Cisco Cole, the school's women's wrestling coach, according to the Times.

Yet this trend is still small, as only one college with a women's wrestling team, Pacific University, is a member of the NCAA. The others are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, for smaller colleges.
