During the drug approval process, the FDA raised the issue of dosage size, but eventually approved the drug as is, but, after a recent study from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices linked Chantix to 998 serious side effects, Pfizer is reaching out to the media and public with ads in five major newspapers today, and plans to host roundtable discussions on Chantix for members of the media next week.
"Pfizer says most, if not all, of the newly reported side effects are in the drug's existing product label," the WSJ reported, "and feels that label accurately reflects the drug's risk-benefit balance and includes information about adjusting the dose."
