The National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) launched a summer membership drive in partnership with The Africa Channel, that includes a sweepstakes for members to win a trip to South Africa.

In promoting the drive, NAMIC has been focusing its efforts online, with e-mail blasts, members' newsletters, its Diversity Scoop weekly publication, and a recently-launched online video channel called Diversity Live, said NAMIC president Kathy Johnson. The trade organization, along with AOR BTB Communications, is reaching out to media targeting ethnic communities and releasing its news through multicultural wire services.

"Over the years, we've changed our focus to leadership development, making sure that the leadership of these companies reflects the consumer base that is being served," Johnson said. "We offer a variety of services to our members to help them advance in their careers."
