Porter Novelli turns Broadway a Wicked shade of green

NEW YORK: The very green Broadway show Wicked engaged Porter Novelli (PN) to help "greenify" The Great White Way. Starting in April, the agency worked with the show and the National Resources Defense Council to host a Town Hall meeting on June 10 at the Gershwin Theater, where actors, theater owners, stagehands, vendors, and musicians discussed how Broadway can take steps toward reducing the industry's carbon footprint. From the Town Hall meeting, a committee has been formed to support collaborative efforts going forward, said David Zucker, partner and director of PN CauseWorks, a corporate philanthropy practice the agency launched in 2001. "Ensuring that all of Broadway understands that every individual effort – no matter how big or small – is important, and that there is potential for significant impact when they join together, was a key message to be delivered," he told PRWeek, via email. "NRDC played a key role in delivering this message and demonstrating the success of similar initiatives on behalf of other entertainment and sports industry groups."
