NEW YORK: Business Wire and Spanish-language media company ImpreMedia launched LatinoWire, an online wire service providing Business Wire content in Spanish and English.
ImpreMedia began building its multimedia offerings last year, and just last month launched a mobile service for its customers. BW press releases will be available on the ImpreMedia site, www.impre.com, and on the sites for ImpreMedia's publications, such as La Opinion and El Diario, and via this mobile outlet.
“This fulfills something that Spanish end users have been asking for – information that comes directly from companies,” said Arturo Duran, CEO of ImpreMedia Digital. “Hispanics [are now] able to read what companies are saying in Spanish. It may be a bilingual market, but some people feel more comfortable reading things in Spanish.”
The Hispanic population is the fastest growing in the US and, according to Latinos Online, a report published by the Pew Hispanic Center in March 2007, “78% of Latinos who are English-dominant and 76% of bilingual Latinos use the Internet.”
This demographic has become a target audience PR Newswire as well. It acquired Hispanic PR Wire in January and launched a social media news release service, Interactivo Multimedia News Release, as part of MultiVu Latino.
“Latino culture has been absorbed and is becoming part of the mainstream,” said Duran.
