"In order for him to go forward with many of the things he has planned, including the book he talked about and some business opportunities that are coming his way, it was important to rebrand him as something other than Star Jones ex-husband," said Howard Bragman, CEO and founder of Fifteen Minutes PR, who has worked with Reynolds for several years.
In addition to the three videos, which have been viewed more than 78,000 times since they were posted on July 15, Reynolds gave an exclusive interview to the Associated Press, and Bragman went on CNN's Showbiz Tonight with a first look at the tapes.
"We're building a broader picture of Al," Bragman told PRWeek, saying there could be more Reynolds PR to come. "We're showing people he's an intelligent and articulate guy and there's some discussions going with his reps about other projects. At the point when we have other things to announce, we won't be shy. If and when we sell the book and other projects, we'll announce them along the way. I'm sort of a less is more guy. You don't need to do 50 interviews when you can do one interview and have it picked up by 50 outlets."
