MONTREAL: Yahoo Canada has hired Capital-Image about a year after rebranding its Quebec portal.
“We've been adding content, properties and partnerships to the overall Quebec product, so we wanted to find an agency to help raise our profile,” said Clive Hobson, PR director of Yahoo Canada.
Hobson said he spoke with several boutique shops, but ultimately decided on Capital-Image in part because it has previously partnered closely with Environics, Yahoo Canada's AOR in English Canada.
Hobson didn't disclose the budget, but said it is fairly modest. Capital-Image in Montreal has roughly 15 staff. He said Capital-Image will focus on media relations and executive profiling.
“They will also work on what I call ‘buzz events'—getting into public spaces and introducing people to some of the products on Yahoo,” such as Flickr, said Hobson.
