LOS ANGELES: The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF), a Latino-serving, social service nonprofit organization, is in the midst of choosing an AOR. The Montebello, CA-based organization, which was founded in 1963 and has an annual budget of $63 million, expects to make a decision in the next few weeks.
Filiberto Gonzalez, the chief development officer at MAOF, said the organization is looking for a public affairs and media relations firm that has experience working with nonprofits and the Latino community. It issued an RFP on July 10, and has shortlisted four firms.
Gonzalez told PRWeek that MAOF's need for media outreach and communications has increased in the past several years, particularly with its annual events, like the organization's National Hispanic Women's Conference.
The agency chosen for the one-year contract will oversee media relations, special events, crisis management, and general PR counsel for MAOF.
