Obama takes a seat on The O'Reilly Factor; NEJM editors don't dismiss Vytorin cancer link; Apple's big announcement; and more

Barack Obama will appear on Fox News Channel's The O'Reilly Factor on Thursday, the same night that John McCain's nomination acceptance speech will be broadcast from the Republican National Convention. 


This is the first time in Obama's presidential candidacy that he will appear on the program. Obama has a strained history with the Rupert Murdoch-owned network, and has expressed concerns over how he has been covered on Fox, the Washington Post reports.



Editors of the New England Journal of Medicine say it is too soon to dismiss the possibility of cancer risks linked to the cholesterol drug Vytorin.


Apple has invited members of the press to a ‘special event' on September 9, at which many speculate the company may reveal a new, possibly cheaper iPod.


Stephenie Meyer, author of the popular Twilight book series, has put the series' fifth book on hold in protest after part of the draft was leaked and posted online.
