TORONTO: MySpace Canada has begun working with National Public Relations on a project basis after parting company with Cohn & Wolfe, its PR firm since 2007.
Nicole Bilodeau, manager of international communications at MySpace, confirmed the agency change, but declined to comment further. C&W could not be reached by press time. National and C&W are owned by the same holding company, Montreal-based RES PUBLICA Consulting Group.
National's first assignment is to promote the launch of a Canadian election page, at myspace.com/impactcanada, which aims to bridge the gap between Canadian politicians and younger voters.
The news comes after MySpace Canada announced in July it had hired its first-ever general manager, Dave Stevens, from Canwest Digital Media. In a release about his hiring, Travis Katz, managing director of international operations for MySpace, said, “Driving growth in Canada is a top priority for MySpace internationally.”
