TORONTO: National Public Relations acquired Sonic Boom Creative Media, a 20-person interactive ad agency that will move into National's Toronto office. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.
Sonic Boom, which will continue to operate under its name, will also maintain its own clients. Its current clients include Sirius Satellite Radio, Jamieson Laboratories, Timex, and Honda. Its services range from creating and building employee Intranets and e-commerce Web sites to executing e-mail marketing and social media programs.
Over the last year and a half, National has partnered with Sonic Boom on various projects. John Crean, national managing partner at National, said the firm's digital business has doubled in about the last 12 months, and the purchase reflects its need to ramp up in-house capabilities faster than it could through organic growth.
“When we have a client challenge, we found not to be able to provide the technical, strategic, and creative depth online limits our ability to provide clients with a full-range of solutions,” Crean told PRWeek. “A PR firm in the future needs to be fully integrated into online communications.”
Sonic Boom will also turn to National on its clients that require “strategic and tactical firepower,” says Alex Pejcic, VP, MD of Sonic Boom.
