According to multiple sources, the selection process is in its final stages with several agencies vying for the contract.
The sources, who declined to be identified, said that the Toshiba contract is worth seven figures.
At present, the company is working with Maples Communications, headquartered in Mission Viejo, CA, as its AOR.
Last year, Maples worked on a PR campaign to launch Toshiba's Portégé R400, a wirelessly dockable, Vista-enabled laptop. The firm also sought to “rebuild Toshiba's reputation as a leading provider of mobile computing innovation,” according to Maples' Web site.
Neither Toshiba nor Maples responded to PRWeek's requests for comment.
Last week, Toshiba's laptop division expanded its offerings by introducing a new brand of notebooks for its Portégé and Tecra lines.
