Shareholders coalition launches new site for proxy effort
WASHINGTON: The Shareholders Communications Coalition launched www.shareholdercoalition.com to raise awareness among the general public and Washington policymakers about issues related to the system by which investors vote their shares in corporate elections. The group believes that the Securities Exchange Commission's proxy voting and shareholder communications rules need reform, and the site is part of a larger campaign to urge Congress and the SEC to review the system. Coalition members are: the Business Roundtable, the National Association of Corporate Directors, the National Investor Relations Institute, the Securities Transfer Association, and Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals.
