As if the Wall Street financial crisis wasn’t enough of a headache for New York City officials, it appears that they're also worried about the Big Apple losing its status as media capital of the world.

The city’s Economic Development Corporation has issued an RFP seeking consultants who can help with a year-long look at the New York media industry. PaidContent.org points out that Boston and the West Coast are “perceived to be preferred” by new media, according to the RFP.
