“The scope... has grown quite considerably in the number of grants we have given out,” said Andrew Hurst, senior communications officer for the public/private partnership organization, which was founded in 2002. “As The Global Fund grows, our media profile grows with it.”
The account, awarded to the New York-based agency on October 10, is being led out of the Paris office because of its proximity to The Global Fund's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, said Monique da Silva, global healthcare director at MS&L.
Budget for the one-year deal was not disclosed. The RFP was issued in September and at least eight agencies competed for the contract, although Hurst declined to name them.
The agency is providing media services for public, media, and political events in 18 countries in Asia, North America, and Europe.
MS&L's first project was media support for the nonprofit's board meeting held in New Delhi, India, on November 7 and 8, Silva said. The agency set up a press conference and field visits with reporters, as well as media interviews with board members and executives.
Another RFP was issued on September 18 for a two-year contract that will encompass PR, strategic advice, and crisis communications, but it has not yet been awarded, Hurst said. He noted that work between the two agencies will complement each other. MS&L is not pitching for the second account.
