Koppel leaves Discovery Channel, 'Meet the Press' speculation begins; Bauer cuts 'Life & Style' staff; Huffington Post raises $15 million

Former Nightline host Ted Koppel is parting ways with the Discovery Channel, six months before his contract ends. The decision is fueling speculation that he will become the next permanent host of Meet the Press. Yet while the Los Angeles Times reports that NBC will soon select a replacement for the late Tim Russert, Variety notes that Koppel is considered a longshot for the job.
