NEW YORK: Edelman has hired Audrey Pass as SVP in charge of New York entertainment marketing operations.
Pass was most recently senior publicist at Harpo, where she handled media and corporate relations for Oprah Winfrey, the daily television show Oprah, Harpo Films, and Oprah's glossy print magazine O.
Edelman's entertainment marketing division encompasses 15 people based in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and services both entertainment-related companies as well as corporations searching for ways to leverage the entertainment industry.
"More and more of our large and important consumer, healthcare, and corporate clients are looking for ways to broaden their reach and deepen their consumer contacts using entertainment as a strategy," said Peter Land, head of Edelman's sports and entertainment marketing practice.
One of Pass' immediate projects will include PR support for Samsung's sponsorship of the two upcoming and highly anticipated sequels to The Matrix, both of which are set for release in 2003. Other clients include Johnson & Johnson, Warner Bros., and Viacom.
