LOS ANGELES: Bender/Helper Impact (B/HI) has hired a new VP to head its video game division, replacing two gaming veterans who departed to start their own agency.
Dana Harris is now VP of interactive entertainment. Harris was most recently with Edelman, where she headed the team that handled the North American launch of Microsoft's Xbox. Harris has also held posts with Broderbund Software and Hasbro Interactive.
"The interactive entertainment division has experienced steady growth since its inception in the early 1990s, and we expect that growth to continue under Dana's guidance," said agency principal Dean Bender.
Harris replaces John Foster, who has founded Venice, CA-based Zeitgeist Communications with fellow B/HI staffer Alex Josef. The two will continue to focus their efforts on the gaming industry, but with a wider scope.
Following a trend of mixing PR with other marketing disciplines, Josef and Foster conceived Zeitgeist as the communications arm of a larger inter-active media company called Double Barrel, which will search for crossover opportunities between gaming, film, and music.
Zeitgeist has signed two clients: computer manufacturer Alienware and game developer Enlight Interactive. The company will depend on freelancers for near-term staffing.
