SAN ANTONIO and HOUSTON: Clear Channel Communications has hired PR leaders for its two largest divisions after consolidating functions in Texas late last year.
Weber Shandwick's former Houston GM and VP Jean Gonsoulin this week joins Houston-based Clear Channel Entertainment as corporate communications VP, while radio veteran Lisa Dollinger settles into her new job as marketing and communications VP of Clear Channel Radio in San Antonio.
The mammoth radio division, which operates 1,200 stations, moved its headquarters late last year from Covington, KY to the parent company's Alamo City home. Pam Taylor handled PR for the division in Kentucky, but didn't move to Texas. Dollinger's job, however, is a new position, that includes oversight of PR, media, and industry relations, and other marcomm programs.
In December, Clear Channel Entertainment moved several corporate functions, including PR, from New York City to division headquarters in Houston.
Former PR SVP Howard Schacter did not make the move.
Gonsoulin will lead branding, internal communications, and community relations for the entertainment division, which owns and/or manages 135 venues and stages exhibitions and musical, theatrical, and sporting events.
Gonsoulin will work closely with Susan Elmore Public Relations, a Houston boutique that has long served Clear Channel, company sources said.
Meanwhile, WS brought home a Texas expatriate to lead and grow its four-person Houston office. SVP Ken Walker is a 15-year BSMG veteran who opened that agency's Hong Kong office seven years ago, explained WS Southwest president Ken Luce.
