CHICAGO: Minneapolis-based Carmichael Lynch Spong is opening a Chicago office, hiring PR veteran Jim Heininger to run its new operation.
Doug Spong, managing partner of the agency, said, "With or without Chicago, we're going to grow in 2003. The office there is a broader outlook at where our firm is going."
CLS increased revenues 18.5% last year, to $7.2 million.
While Chicago is a crowded PR market, Spong said his agency sees opportunities there because of the firm's experience in the consumer goods, food, and home and shelter arenas.
The agency, in hiring someone to open an office rather than buying an existing firm, is following the pattern it set with offices in Denver and New York.
"We've attracted a very well-respected and well-connected individual there to grow our office," Spong said.
