CINCINNATI: As Chiquita Brands continues its long comeback from its 2001 bankruptcy, the company has appointed former Bloomberg reporter Monique Wise as its new director of IR.
Wise, 35, will coordinate Chiquita's relationships with its shareholders, bondholders, and debt and equity analysts. While at Bloomberg, Wise covered the Wall Street beat, including investment banking, corporate finance, corporate governance, and equity market structure.
Chiquita, the world's largest producer of bananas, emerged from Chapter 11 protection last March. The company was forced into bankruptcy in November 2001 after a long-standing banana trade dispute with the European Union made servicing its debts impossible.
Chiquita is a 131-year-old company, and recently celebrated its 100th year as a listed firm on the NYSE.
