LOS ANGELES: Miramax Films has hired Paul Pflug, Artisan Entertainment's former head of PR, as EVP of media relations and corporate communications.

The studio has also promoted Matthew Hiltzik to SVP of corporate communications.

Pflug is now Miramax's senior publicity executive on the West Coast, reporting to co-chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and COO Rick Sands.

Pflug will manage Miramax's worldwide corporate profile and communications strategies for entertainment, consumer, and business. He will also oversee West Coast publicity for theatrical films, and consult on Miramax home entertainment and TV ventures. Amanda Lundberg, EVP of worldwide publicity, remains head of theatrical PR and awards campaigns.

The hiring comes after a year of change for Miramax's LA operations, with a number of high-level PR people departing.

Artisan has not replaced Pflug, but Bender/Helper Impact is assisting with corporate communications in the interim.
