SAN ANTONIO: Clear Channel Communications, a perpetual media-critic target, has named Lisa Dollinger its new SVP, global corporate communications.
Dollinger, who has long been associated with companies that are now part of the media giant, gained the top communications job after just a few months as VP for marketing and communication at Clear Channel Radio, which operates the US' largest network of stations. She replaces Diane Warren, who now leads internal communications.
Dollinger's influence has already been visible. Last month, she brought in Brainerd Communicators to handle crisis communications and other PR tasks.
Dollinger revealed a two-part strategy to improve Clear Channel's image. First, she said, she's been working to correct inaccuracies in the coverage of pro-military rallies and in the boycott of the Dixie Chicks for their lead singer's antiwar remarks. Second, she wants to get out more stories about the company's diverse staff and properties. "This is very much a people-driven company," she said.
