KING OF PRUSSIA, PA: Alan Marcus, VP of PR for toy retailer FAO Schwarz, is leaving to become a VP at Bratskeir & Co., a New York-based marketing communications firm. He'll be working on consumer goods accounts in his new position.
FAO Inc., the parent company of FAO Schwarz, has yet to decide if it will replace Marcus, said Renee Hollinger, VP of communications.
The company is currently working to craft an agreement that will allow it to emerge from bankruptcy. It had hoped to get that done in April.
FAO filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year after failing to renegotiate lending agreements with its bankers.
Marcus is well-known in the toy industry. He had been trying to position FAO Schwarz as a luxury lifestyle brand for children, rather than a toy store.
