LOS ANGELES: The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has promoted Marilyn Gordon to director of advertising administration.
In that role, Gordon is charged with approving all advertising and PR campaigns for rated motion pictures, before those campaigns are released for the general public. Advertising and publicity for motion pictures is self-regulated by the industry organization, which counts the seven major studios as members.
Gordon will work closely with the in-house marketing departments at the studios to ensure that the campaigns meet established guidelines.
Prior to joining the MPAA in 1985, Gordon worked in the publicity department at Universal Studios. She is also currently a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, serving in its PR department.
Yulia Dashevsky has also been promoted to the position of associate director of advertising, reporting to Gordon.
