SAN MATEO, CA: Enterprise software firm Epiphany has begun another PR agency search, just seven months after selecting Applied Communications.

SVP of marketing Ellen Olson confirmed the company is looking for a new agency, but would not elaborate.

Epiphany switched from Blanc & Otus in the US to Applied in September.

Epiphany's former EVP of marketing Jeff Pulver said in September that "everything from the technology to the politics in the CRM space is changing," and he wanted to better position the company as a challenger to Siebel Systems and SAP.

But Pulver left Epiphany in December due to a restructuring of the marketing department. He later became VP of worldwide marketing for Siebel.

Pulver presided over the decision to hire Applied. He recently hired Applied partner and SVP Burghardt Tenderich as VP of PR, a new position at Siebel.

Epiphany, along with other business software companies such as Onyx Software and BroadVision, issued lower earnings last week due to the ongoing economic downturn.
