LONDON: Martin Smith, former partner at the Brunswick Group, has established his own firm, West Bridge Consulting. The firm will be focused primarily on reputation management and communications consulting for Russian clients.
Smith had been a partner at corporate communications consultancy Brunswick since 1997.
In recent years, Smith worked on developing Brunswick's public policy, corporate, and Russian practice areas, working with clients that have included Group 4 Falck, Nomura Principal Finance Group, Mitsubishi Electric Europe, Yukos Oil Company, the Expert publishing group in Moscow, and the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
Before his tenure at Brunswick, Smith held the director of public affairs post at the UK's National Consumer Council in the 1980s.
Smith's recent high-profile Russian projects included the raising of the nuclear submarine Kursk, which sank in the North Sea in August of 2000, killing all 118 sailors aboard.
"My friends in Moscow have all been telling me that now is the time to invest in Russia," said Martin in a prepared statement. "I have decided therefore that it is time to back this judgment with my own money."
