Chicago: Edelman has hired Christopher Hannegan as an employee communications specialist to fill a new post, US director of employee engagement.
Hannegan will join Edelman's Chicago office later this month as an SVP. He comes from Chicago shop Matha MacDonald, which specializes in employee communications. He worked mostly on United Airlines and International Truck and Engine (formerly Navistar).
"We wanted someone who was a specialist in this area," said Mark Shadle, EVP and managing director of corporate affairs, to whom Hannegan will report. "He brings a lot of skills that will compliment what we've been doing here." Shadle said.
Edelman is calling its practice employee engagement rather than employee communications to signify the two-way nature of effective employee communications, Shadle said.
