Cubitt Prosek to help Allied Domecq forge ties with US financial press

New York: British spirits maker Allied Domecq has taken on Cubitt Prosek to handle its US financial and corporate communications.

New York: British spirits maker Allied Domecq has taken on Cubitt Prosek to handle its US financial and corporate communications.

Allied CEO Philip Bowman will be in New York this week for a media tour arranged by the new firm, the start of efforts to increase communications with the US financial media.

Cubitt Prosek is a joint venture of London financial and corporate consultancy Cubitt Consulting, and Jacobs & Prosek, a US communications firm.

Allied selected the partnership because it was impressed with work Cubitt had done for other European companies in the US, said Mark Kollar, MD of Cubitt Consulting. Cubitt works with Adeco, a major international office-equipment company, and Telekom Austria.

The firm will work "to bring the Allied corporate story to the US media," Kollar said. Three people will work on the account.

Twenty percent of Allied's shareholders are in the US.

The company also has a US IR agency, Taylor Rafferty, and uses a variety of other agencies for brand work.

Earlier this month, Allied switched a major chunk of its global beverage advertising

and marketing business from Cordiant to Publicis Groupe, devastating the former.

Allied is preparing to launch a new rum in the US called Kuya, targeting 21- to 29-year-olds. The product is being called a fusion rum, combining imported rums, spices, and citrus flavor.
