BOSTON: The small world of nanotechnology just got a little bit bigger, as Brodeur Worldwide has decided to develop a new consulting practice that will focus on the burgeoning hi-tech sector.

"We have been looking at this space as one of the emerging areas of tech for a while," said EVP Mike Brewer, who will lead the practice. "When we look out at where tech is going for the next 10 years or so, this keeps coming back. It's a market that is developing, but has not quite taken off yet. It speaks to our roots in technology."

The global practice will initially focus more on creating thought leadership and looking at the nanotech-industry big picture, rather than using PR to promote specific products. Brodeur is seeing associations and industry groups as its first potential clients.

"We want to start at the macro level," explained Brewer. "As the market develops and matures, we'll see more clients in the pipeline."
