PORTLAND, OR: The Port of Portland has hired Edelman to draw attention to Portland's business community and its only direct flight to Europe, a new flight to Germany on Lufthansa.
"The focus of Edelman's work will be to tell stories about Oregon as a business community to the European business audience," said Bob Applegate, the port's manager of government and media relations. "The point of this is to build stronger business relationships."
Erin Holland, SVP and deputy GM of Edelman's Portland office, pointed out that Adidas, Biotronik, and Siemens Energy and Automation are all German companies with a strong presence in Oregon.
"Portland is a very green, environmentally friendly city, which is of interest to Germans," said Holland.
Oregon's business community benefited from direct flights to Japan, said Applegate, especially with companies like Nike, Adidas, and Freightliner having a major presence in Portland.
Edelman will reach out to the business, consumer, trade, and lifestyle media in Germany.
