San Francisco: Harry Pforzheimer, the former president of Edelman's Western region, is joining the San Francisco/Bay Area office of Ruder Finn/ Switzer as EVP.
He'll report to Jessica Switzer, managing director. Switzer's firm was acquired by Ruder Finn in February.
"She and I are just cut out of the same mold," Pforzheimer said of Switzer in explaining why he decided to join Ruder Finn. "It's a great agency with a quiet confidence. They're not as boastful as most, and the number-one priority for them is quality."
Switzer and Pforzheimer have known each other for about five years. "I have known
Harry and admired his work," Switzer said. "He's really been around the block when it
comes to growing great technology brands."
Of the 14 clients Ruder Finn has in San Francisco, 13 are involved in technology, she said.
Bringing Pforzheimer aboard "is going to really entrench us in the tech sector in the Bay Area," Switzer said. "His time will be split between the existing client base, and he'll also be responsible for building our brand here."
While with Edelman, which shares its independent status with Ruder Finn, he was also GM of the firm's Silicon Valley office, and worked with Apple, Microsoft, Charles Schwab, and Starbucks, among other clients.
While he is known for tech work, he said he's looking forward to reaching out in a variety of directions for new business with Ruder Finn.
Pforzheimer left his full-time position with Edelman in April, remaining as a consultant. "I needed a little bit of a break after working for 26 years straight," he said.
