NEW YORK: Rick Rice, head of GCI Group's San Francisco office, is leaving the firm.

Rice, who came out of semi-retirement to join the San Francisco operation after the dot-com bubble burst, is leaving to "pursue personal interests." He will remain of counsel to GCI for an indefinite period of time, assisting SVP Mary Hancock, who is serving as interim GM while a successor for Rice is sought.

In a second high-level departure, Mary Croitoru, who headed GCI's Toronto operations, is also leaving. She will become CEO of the Food and Consumer Products Manufacturers of Canada.

"Our Toronto and San Francisco offices are both poised for their next phase of growth, thanks to Nancy and Rick's work," said Bob Feldman, GCI's president and CEO. "While I'm personally disappointed to see them move on, I fully respect the choices they're making for the next chapters in their lives."
