SAN FRANCISCO: With more clients asking for strategic corporate positioning, Hill & Knowlton's tech practice has created a position to help hi-tech companies strengthen analyst relations. Josh Reynolds has joined the San Francisco office as SVP and US head of analyst relations.

"We found that analyst relations is playing a bigger role with corporate positioning," said Joe Paluska, deputy tech practice director. Reynolds will begin with strategic corporate positioning, and will start building a tech analyst relations practice.

"A number of firms approach analyst relations from the outbound-communications perspective, such going on an analyst tour," said Reynolds, who was most recently a VP at Applied Communications. He has also worked as an analyst at Gartner Dataquest.

"As an ex-analyst, one of my biggest pet peeves was not being listened to," he added. "Analysts are often the first best stop for competitive positioning, and for gaining insight into competitors. They can also help accelerate the sales cycle, as customers often call analysts to ask if they should buy a certain product."
