NILES, IL: Shure, the global audio electronics company whose microphones have been used by everyone from Elvis Presley to John F. Kennedy, has tapped Greenough Communications as its new US agency of record.

"When you see a high-profile event, whether it's a speech or concert, the odds are good it's one of our microphones," said PR manager Michelle Zenner Kohler. Since Lyndon Johnson, US presidents have used Shure's microphones exclusively. The company has also won Grammy awards for its technical innovations.

Shure selected Greenough because it was looking for "a boutique agency with a mix of technology and consumer electronics experience," said Zenner Kohler. "All the pieces clicked with them."

Ketchum had been Shure's agency of record for the past three years.

According to president Phil Greenough, the agency will help the company leverage its heritage and history with everyone from presidents to rock stars in its future PR efforts. Upcoming campaigns will include product launches and cause-related marketing.

Greenough's San Francisco office will lead the account.
